Gerald Kaendler is the Director of Asset Management at Amprion GmbH, one of Germany’s leading transmission system operators. Based in Dortmund, he has held this role since 2009, leading a team of 800 professionals in areas including long-term system planning, asset management, field operations, and telecommunications. With a solid foundation in power system engineering and a strong grasp of budgeting and finance, Mr. Kaendler has played a key role in shaping Germany’s energy infrastructure. An electrical engineering graduate from RWTH Aachen University, he has also contributed extensively to industry collaboration through his work with CIGRE and national associations. From 2021 to 2025, he serves as Chair of the System Development Committee of ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. In this role, he helps guide the development of a secure, sustainable, and economically efficient European transmission system.
