Powering a Sustainable and Resilient Future

The IEEE PES ISGT Europe conference is a leading event focused on power grid modernization and the application of ICT to enhance energy systems, with an emphasis on integrating renewable and distributed energy resources. The 2025 conference will feature keynotes, plenary session, super and special sessions, influential industry representatives, industry exhibits and presentations, technical sessions and a job fair on smart grid innovations. Researchers, professionals, and students  worldwide are invited to submit papers and discuss the latest  advancements in grid modernization.  The conference will be a great  opportunity to network with international delegates.

The Organizing Committee of the IEEE PES ISGT Europe 2025 is pleased to invite proposals for Special Sessions to be held in conjunction with the conference, scheduled to take place in Malta from 20-23 October 2025. Special Sessions provide an excellent platform for researchers, industry professionals, and thought leaders to present focused discussions on specific and emerging topics in smart grid technologies and their applications.

Topics of Interest

Special Session proposals should align with the conference’s theme and scope. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Advanced methodologies for renewable energy integration
  • Smart grid technologies and their applications
  • Digital twins and simulation tools for energy systems
  • AI, machine learning, and big data in energy management
  • Decentralized energy systems and peer-to-peer energy trading
  • Power system resilience and disaster recovery
  • Advances in energy storage and distributed energy resources
  • Smart mobility and grid-enabled electric vehicles
  • Energy market dynamics and regulatory frameworks
  • Cybersecurity and privacy in energy systems

Submission Guidelines

Special sessions proposals should include the following information:

  • Title: A clear and concise title for the Special Session.
  • Organizer(s): Names, affiliations, short biographies (including bio photo), and contact details of the session organizers.
  • Abstract: A brief description (maximum 300 words) of the session’s theme and objectives.
  • Session Structure: Specify the proposed format of the session (e.g., invited talks, panel discussion, paper presentations, etc.).
  • Confirmed Speakers: Provide a list of potential or confirmed speakers and their affiliations (if applicable).
  • Target Audience: Indicate the intended audience, including their level of expertise (e.g., beginner, intermediate, expert).
  • Expected Contributions: Summarize the expected outcomes and contributions of the session to the conference.
  • Audio-Visual Requirements: Specify any technical or logistical needs for the session.
  • Financial Support to the Conference: Indicate whether the organizers or speakers can provide financial support to the conference (e.g., covering their own travel and accommodation costs or contributing to conference sponsorship).
  • Relevant Links: Include links to any related projects or initiatives to provide additional context and relevance (e.g., Horizon Europe Projects).

Evaluation Criteria

All proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the conference themes and scope.
  • Innovation and timeliness of the topic.
  • Expertise and diversity of the proposed speakers.
  • Potential interest and impact on the conference audience.

Registration for manuscript submission system

The ISGT Europe 2025 uses ConfTool manuscript submission system that will require authors to register for an account prior to the paper submission.
